Not so long ago, the Calvert County peninsula was humming with the activities of a busy rural-resort community. Scenic Chesapeake Bay to the east provides outstanding views of steep cliffs and acres of green forests, while gently rolling fields give way to the majestic Patuxent River toward the west. Calvert County is strategically located 45 miles east of Washington, D.C. and 20 miles south of Annapolis. Residents enjoy unlimited access to the multitude of cultural and recreational amenities offered by the nearby sophisticated metropolitan areas. There are just two incorporated towns in Calvert County: North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, located on the bay at the northeast corner of the county.
